Details
Hon Mieu, also widely known as the Tri Nguyen area, is one of the closest inhabited islands in Nha Trang Bay. From the tourist port/Cau Da port area, visitors can reach the island by boat or speedboat; travel time is usually quite short compared to many farther islands, so Hon Mieu is often chosen as a stop in 3-island tours, bay tours, or tours combined with lunch at the fishing village.
What makes Hon Mieu special is that the island not only has beaches and tourist areas but also a distinct coastal community life. The island has residential areas, boat docks, seaside restaurants, and a system of floating cages for aquaculture. When boats or speedboats approach the fishing village area, visitors can see floating rafts on the water where locals raise fish, lobsters, squid, snails, crabs, and various other seafood depending on the season. This is also why Hon Mieu Fishing Village is often included in itineraries as a mid-route rest stop, suitable for guests to have lunch, choose fresh seafood, or simply observe the island life of local people.
In terms of tourism, Hon Mieu is a small island but concentrates many familiar stops on the Nha Trang Bay route. The island has areas such as Fishing Village, Bai Tranh, Mini Beach, Tri Nguyen Aquarium / Tri Nguyen Eco-Tourism Area and some piers serving visitors. Mini Beach is located on Hon Mieu Island and is mainly developed as a day-trip destination for fun, swimming, and relaxation; travel time from Nha Trang tourist port to Mini Beach is about 10 minutes by speedboat or about 25 minutes by wooden boat, depending on the vehicle and sea conditions.
Hon Mieu Fishing Village is suitable for travelers who want their island tour to include a realistic, close-to-life element, rather than just stopping for swimming or photo-taking. The atmosphere here is more everyday: there are boats, aquaculture cages, floating houses, locals providing marine services, and dining activities for tourists. For families, groups of friends, or small tour groups, this is a relatively convenient stop to rest, have lunch, and regain energy before continuing to other spots like Mini Beach, Bai Tranh, or Hon Mun depending on the itinerary.
Hon Mieu is an area with many different stops; not every spot on the island is included in the same tour package. Visiting the Fishing Village, Mini Beach, Bai Tranh, or Bai Soi depends on the booked itinerary, entry tickets, transportation, weather conditions, and daily operational plans. Costs such as lunch, additional seafood, entrance fees to tourist areas, water games, or incidental services at the rafts should be confirmed in advance, as they are not included in the tour price.
